Developing Digital Capability in Higher Education: Ownership, personalised and skills first
A Talk by Samantha Clarkson (Digital Capabilities Manager, University of Hertfordshire)
About this Talk
In this presentation I will explain the approach taken at the University of Hertfordshire to move away from a focus on tools first digital capability development for staff and students. To support and encourage individual's to own their digital capability development and pursue their personal goals. With a key aim to develop skills that are transferable as digital inevitably changes and evolves, and challenge tackling skills development technology-by-technology. This approach is guided by the Jisc six elements of digital capability framework used across higher education in the UK and informed by evidence from the Jisc Digital Experience Insights survey. Evidence of efficacy has led to institutional commitment in long term investment in a team and resources, to continue this work and recognise its' place in organisational digital transformation strategy.
