At the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham we have joined data from 5 main parts of the council to create a single view of the resident. This is enabling far more effective service delivery. From putting crucial data into the hands of frontline professionals to pulling good quality management information out of legacy systems - the use cases span broad parts of council business. This year we will begin to use predictive analytics to understand future risk of homelessness and offer preventative support. This work has required a lot of information governance and an increasing focus on ethics. But if the public sector is serious about prevention we will have to use our data better - this is how Barking and Dagenham is doing that.
