As the world of Digital grows and technology becomes more embedded in daily life and working practices, not only does the way we work and the skills we need change, it also impacts the future career pathways and educational opportunities.
Wigan Council’s Deal 2030 strategy sets out ambition to have Digitally Confident communities, build wealth in the community and keep the local pound around. To do this it means ensuring residents young and old, have the right opportunities to learn new skills, grow in confidence and gain qualifications. We also need to ensure we are retaining home grown talent in the borough and creating entrepreneurial prospects, as well as attracting new skills and industry to take up residency in the town.
In this talk you will hear what this means to Wigan Council and existing organisational partners like Nemiah, about how they are taking action now and also supporting the shaping of the future talent pipeline. You will hear more around current challenges, what they feel can be done to remove them, as well as how working with local schools and colleges they are supporting students as well as their own plans around careers.
