Closing the gap: £19 billion in unclaimed benefits and its impact on social outcomes.

A Session by Deven Ghelani and Abigail Everett

About this Session

Join Policy in Practice’s session to explore the transformative power of technology and data in improving lives. We will share highlights from our groundbreaking report Missing Out: £19 billion of support goes unclaimed each year. It is shocking that such a huge sum of money is left on the table at a time when many families continue to struggle with the cost of living crisis.

This unclaimed benefits gap has far reaching implications for social outcomes, as high living costs and historically low benefit levels place a heavy burden on low and middle income families.

Understanding the scale of unclaimed benefits and identifying those who are missing out, and why, is crucial for designing effective policies and proactive interventions.

Director and Founder, Deven Ghelani, together with Client Services Manager, Abigail Everett, will present the analysis together with the latest award winning work we’re doing with our partners and local authorities to tackle the issue. They will share our evidence based and data led approach, which aims to maximise income through increased benefits uptake and provide families with better access to much needed support.

At Policy in Practice our mission is to empower people by working with local authorities, housing providers, charities, water companies, energy companies and firms across the financial services sector to make real change in people’s lives. We do this by using our expert policy knowledge to build informed and intuitive data driven analytics and software tools. We empower our partners to identify and support vulnerable members of their communities more effectively.

Join us to learn about the cutting edge strategies employed by Policy in Practice to close the £19 billion unclaimed benefits gap.
